Cautions |
Should not be used excessively or long-term as potassium losses may occur through laxative effects. Aloes should not be given when any undiagnosed acute or persistent abdominal symptoms are present. Caution with other strong laxatives. Adverse effects include burning sensations, dermatitis and mild itching. |

Contraindications |
Contraindicated in those with known sensitivity. Strong laxatives such as aloe latex are contraindicated during pregnancy, in women attempting to conceive, or for administration to children under 10 years. Intestinal obstruction and stenosis, atony, inflammatory colon diseases, appendicitis, abdominal pain of unknown origin, chronic constipation, haemorrhoids, kidney disorders, severe dehydration states with water and electrolyte depletion. |

Adult doses |
Internal dosage of resin10–30 ml per week (1:10). Internal dosage of gel: fresh from living plant, freeze dried or as stabilised juice as recommended by manufacturer . Topical dosage: as necessary. |
