Because red clover contains estrogen-like compounds, there is a

developing cancer of the lining of the uterus. Studies to date
have been too brief (less than 6 months) to evaluate possible long term effects.
While there are no known side effects for pregnant and breast feeding women, it is generally advised that they should only take herbal remedies under advise from a qualified practitioner. This also applies to women who have breast cancer or other hormone-sensitive
