What is CBD oil?
CBD is an abbreviation of cannabidiol. CBD hemp oil is extracted from the stalks and seeds of hemp plants (Cannabis sativa). Some superior versions of CBD oil only use the flowers. It should not be confused with medical marijuana as hemp oil is not psychoactive and contains only trace amounts (below 0.2%) of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) the element in marijuana that makes people “high”.
CBD oil contains significant amounts of cannabidiol which are expressed as a percentage and as the total milligrams of CBD in a bottle depending on the strength of the extract. So for example a 10ml bottle with 4.5% CBD will contain a total of 450mg of CBD.
The supercritical CO2 extraction process is approved by organic certifiers and it also preserves all other cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids and nutrients from the hemp oil.
Why Organic CBD?
The extraction process concentrates cannabidiol, other cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids and nutrients in hemp. It also has the potential to concentrate pesticides, herbicides and other unwanted chemicals used in industrial farming. Organic farming is also better for the environment, farm workers and wildlife. Fortunately for us, as it is a very hardy plant, a lot of hemp production is organic.
What are the benefits of CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is the primary cannabinoid in industrial hemp formerly grown for its use as a fibre. In recent years there has been increasing interest and research into the therapeutic potential of CBD, which causes no psychotropic effects, is not psychoactive (cannot get you “high”) and even in high doses does not cause side-effects.
CBD assists the endocannabinoid system (ECS), named after the plant that led to its discovery. This is a group of endogenous cannabinoid receptors located in the mammalian brain and throughout the central and peripheral nervous systems and organs. Consisting of neuromodulatory lipids and their receptors. In other words it is a set of biochemical communication regulatory mechanisms dealing with cannabinoid-like substances (endocannabinoids) produced naturally by the human body in general and the brain in particular, where receptors are concentrated in areas associated with thinking, memory, coordination, pleasure and time perception. The ECS is one of the more important biological control systems, which help regulate major bodily functions

Is CBD Oil Legal?
Organic Herbal Remedies Ltd is a retail member of the Cannabis Trades Association UK. The Association ensures that member businesses trade legally and ethically in the Hemp and CBD market. All the CBD products we sell on this website are classed as food supplements with only traces (or zero) THC and are legal for sale in the UK.
Why don’t we sell Vapes?
We are concerned that over time evidence will grow that vaping is not-safe. Researchers from the University of North Carolina found that vapers showed high levels of proteins which are linked to potentially serious lung conditions, including COPD and Cystic Fybrosis, along with lupus and psoriasis. An increase in mucin 5AC, a mucus secretion associated with chronic bronchitis and asthma, was also found in both e-cigarette and cigarette users.
There is also some early research by Portland State University on heating CBD oil which indicates it creates toxins such as benzene and methacroein. It is early days and for some the positives may outweigh potential negatives but on balance we think it’s not worth the risk!
